Our story begins back in 1986 at Imperial College, London where Professor Colin Besant and his team representing Turbo Genset were developing patented axial flux technology for use in high speed generators.
TPS has a proven and worldwide track record in the development and deployment of equipment in many sectors, including; Transport, Industrial, Energy and Defence.

TPS signed contract for the refurbishment of CL 769 trains with Wabtec.
2018
TPS wins contract with Bombardier for the upgrade of London Central Line and to participate on the Aventra platform.

TPS engage in various energy projects: e-Lobster (R2G), Smart Hubs (micro grid and V2G) and HEART.

Feasibility study signed with NPG for the Micro Resilience Project.

TPS signed contract with UK Power Networks the Active Response Project.

TAO, TPS major shareholder, was acquired by TPS Management team in partnership with Adderstone Group and de-list from AIM.

TPS signed Protocol of Intentions with Amazônia Azul Tecnologias de Defesa - AMAZUL (Brazilian state-owned company of Technology).

Design and Development of a range of Integrated High Speed Permanent Magnet Machine (HSPM) with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
2015
First feasibility study with Brazilian Navy that encompasses a project organised in 3 phases.
2014
First intellectual property sales licence for motor design.

Signed contract with UK Power Networks for Low Voltage grid substation optimisation.

TPS wins Sao Paulo, Brazil, monorail contract with Bombardier Transportation
2010
Vale Soluções em Energia (VSE) a Brazilian energy company and The Brazilian Development Bank take a 70% ownership position of TPS.
2010
TAO invests £6.5m in TPS through the acquisition of over one billion new shares.
2007
It changes its name to Turbo Power Systems (TPS) and it is moved from the London Stock Exchange to the AIM Market.
2006
TPS wins Beijing, Toronto Rocket & CTA contracts with Bombardier Transportation, in a total value of $30M.
2005
Signed an agreement with Daikin/McQuay for the supply of high-speed motors and drives from 200kW to 500kW.
2005
Turbo Genset signs an agreement with Conoco Philips to develop a downhole pump motor for Oil & Gas operations.
2004
Turbo Genset signs an agreement with SKF Magnetic Bearings for 35kW high speed motor and drives.
2002
Rolls Royce transfers Power Electronics Rail contracts and personnel to Intelligent Power.
2001
Turbo Genset acquires Intelligent Power Systems in Gateshead.
2000
Turbo Genset is placed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and lists its shares on the London Stock Exchange to better access UK and European shareholders.
1998
Turbo Genset signs an agreement with General Electric to develop electrically driven hybrid turbochargers.
1997
Turbo Genset opens its first R&D facility (10,000 ft2) in Heathrow, London.
1995
Turbo Genset Inc. is listed in Alberta, Canada.
1994
Turbo Genset Co. founded by an academic group from Imperial College London to commercialise high-speed electrical machine technology.
